Abstract: Massachusetts lawmakers have submitted two bills that require the installation of rooftop solar mounting structure on new residential and commercial buildings.

The "Solar Community Act" submitted by Democratic Rep. Mike Connolly of the University of Cambridge and Rep. Jack Lewis, Democrat of Framingham University, will require the installation of solar mounting system on the roofs of new homes, apartments and office buildings. The bill also considers that if the roof is not well lit, the efficiency of the roof solar panels will be greatly reduced, so this situation can be exempted.
