UK Installed 175MW Of New Photovoltaic Capacity In The First Quarter

According to data released by the British Solar Energy Company, in the first three months of this year, the UK's unsubsidized photovoltaic capacity has exceeded the gigawatt mark, and the country's cumulative solar installed capacity has exceeded 14GW. According to the solar and energy storage industry group, as of the end of March this year, the United Kingdom has added 175MW of solar power generation. Data compiled by the organization and its partner Solar Media Ltd show that with the termination of the feed-in tariff (FIT) program at the end of March 2019, the quarter-on-quarter decline in new power generation this year masked a longer-term rebound in the UK market fact.

British Solar said that as the deadline for terminating the FIT program approaches, the installed solar capacity starting at the end of March 2019 has increased approximately twice the quarterly level recorded a year ago. With the end of the FIT plan, the new solar power generation in the second quarter of 2019 fell back to the baseline level of 2018, and the relatively rapid and stable growth thereafter also came to an abrupt halt at the beginning of last year due to the Covid-19 suspension.

From July to September last year, as the blockade measures began to be lifted, the surge in new solar projects continued the previously apparently stable market growth trend, with utility-scale solar power generation dominating. If the data in the first quarter of this year indicate that new solar power generation has fallen back to a new baseline, this will at least be comparable to the peak level caused by developers rushing to connect projects before the expiration of FIT in early 2019.

In these three months of data, grid-scale solar energy once again played a leading role, accounting for 70% of the new power generation in the first quarter; however, the British Solar Company also reported that the power generation of rooftop solar bracket increased by 14% year-on-year.

The trade agency added that it has made a request for freedom of information to the authorities (forcing relevant public agencies to provide answers), and thus learned that it is a Public Sector Decarbonization Scheme (Public Sector Decarbonization Scheme)

As part of the policy, the government has allocated nearly 140 million pounds (161 million euros) for solar energy in public buildings this year. British solar company said that this may mean that the power generation of solar racks on the roof of public buildings will reach 160 MW this year.
